He just loves to play the sympathy card.

Actually you're wrong (about the dog). Nick has posted pictures and live videos of he and the dog several times throughout the years of his social media. Plus on several occasions he has stated that the dog lives with his mom and he gets to see it when he goes to his mom's house for a visit.
So maybe you don't follow him as much as you think you do to know all of that or maybe you were just to distracted by his butt, chest, and boney shriveled feet.

He likes dogs for sure but yea he doesn't show it that much.
Naw it's cause some people hate on what they can never have. No matter if it's a person, house, business, fame or fortune $$$. I however am a goal seeker and go after exactly who or whatever I want. And even though as far as looks Nick is what I want, Nick is not on my goal seeking list for sanitary and moral reasons.

I think part of the hate is he is extremely gorgeous but profoundly boring. He is a prude to the extreme, but hangs around gay men constantly. Their liberal approach to sex should have some influence, it does not.
I'd agree with that. For some it's a sexual thing and when hot guys like Nick don't show that side of themselves on social media people like to hate on a person like that. It doesn't mean he's not that way behind the scenes but if they can't see it for themselves then they throw shade and hate toward the person. Because that's all they're looking for from them and nothing else.

I think few would consider someone who constantly poses in underwear and in skimpy, revealing clothes to be prudish. Moreover, not all or even most gay men are libertines or hedonistic.

"gay men" are not one entire thing? There are gonna be lots of outliers or people who don't conform to expected standards
