I follow some tech creators on YT that work for some of a big companies like Google, Amazon and such. From what everyone says, they get paid, based on a tier system. This includes the specific job you have, how long you have been working there, whether you're in management and so on. In addition to their base salaries and regular benefits (earning more than $100k starting out is normal for them), they also get performance bonuses.
These are typically based on, not only the work the person does -- but how well the company is performing. They don't get paid like normal people and typically become millionaires quite young (just from their jobs) After working for a few years, they often will go off and start their own companies. Lots of people try to get into computer science and engineering, in general -- but these programs have high drop-out rates. The avg. person isn't adequately prepared for them.
