There was a time, not too long ago when men were a lot less self-conscious about their bodies and nudity. Think early to mid-20th century (probably lasted until the 70s), when it wasn’t weird for guys to be naked together in locker rooms, military barracks, or even at summer camps. It wasn’t sexualized, it wasn't seen as "gay", it wasn’t awkward—it was just part of being a guy. Male bonding was about shared experiences, whether through sports, the military, or social clubs like fraternities and private clubs. Back then, being a man wasn’t about having a chiseled body for Instagram or trying to look perfect for the camera. It was about strength, action, and camaraderie.

Of course, the past wasn’t perfect. The older version of masculinity often lacked emotional vulnerability, and men were expected to stick to strict, traditional roles. But there was something genuine about how men used to interact—without worrying about how they looked or being judged. They had a sense of ease with each other that’s not as common now.

This thread is to discuss this topic and to share photos of this era, from male bonding scenes, communal nudity to naked men showing how men looked back then.

I love this thread. And I love male bonding.

The world that is unique to men and only shared/understood between men is one of my favorite things. There is a push to stop this culture (you see it often when Women try to enter male only clubs) but it needs to be preserved. It's part of our heritage.
