What did everyone think of the opening ceremony?

Shockingly bad in every single aspect. poorly timed, badly edited, disconnected, irrelevant, blasphemuous, sad parade, awful for the ticket holders. just another opportunity for the parisians to try to convince us " we have the most beautiful city in the planet. we dont really need to try hard, just a walk around our poluted with fecal matter river is enough to make everyone gasp in awe" parisians were always like that.

What's funny is my parents had a similar reaction. Maybe it's an age thing?

What did everyone think of the opening ceremony?

The opening ceremony Last Supper tableau (it wasn't Le Festin des Dieux and/or a Bacchanalia) was done in very poor taste and rubbish...DJ Barbra Butch herself acknowledged implicitly that the tableau was an interpretation of The Last Supper.

All for rights, but with rights come responsibilities to do no harm.

Also, what does Dionysus have to do with the Olympics.....Hermes does, Herakles does, Apollo does, heck even Eros and Ares do to some extent.

What does Le Festin des Dieux have to do with France?

Now if they'd have done, a tableau recreating Mt. Olympus and the Pantheon of the Gods and the first Olympic games and blended it into funeral and war games and tied it all into France's history and imagery with all the various monarchs and emperors associating with Greek culture and the famous French iconography of the Marianne as the Goddess of Liberty .....now that would be something....even if all the performers were naked and painted white like elysian marbles.
