I’m in nyc for the weekend and would love to find a locker room (or any other facility) with totally open showers… I’ve always wanted to experience that one time and could never find one… but I feel like nyc must have that somewhere.

FYI - these are gyms with mixed crowds & not meant to be treated as if its a sex club.

Any more info on this? I've never heard of it, I thought there weren't any bathhouses in NYC. From the sound of it and a quick Google search it looks/sounds like the Club Fort Lauderdale, which I HAVE been to.
The reviews online seem mixed and say that it's mostly older men that go there. What's the real sitch?

this is about gym facilities (used by both straight and gays since it’s not regarding a place that’s specifically for sex), that have communal style showers.

Make this your last resort. This is a place that should have been left back in the 70s/80s/90s whatever. I would only use this place if I need to host someone nowadays, otherwise not recommended to go alone. And if you do end up here, not get involved with everyone there (check things out).
I can confirm that there are individuals with known status of STDs who continuously go there. One particular guy who I caught on the other side of his computer (he always brings his laptop) who looks like Jeffrey Dahmer.

There are two separate areas with showers, both have the same setup. When you walk in, on the right-hand side there are 3 open shower heads with dividers, on the left there are 4 to 5 stalls with doors for people who want privacy. The dividers on the open showers stick out about 2 feet from the wall. For guys that are there for showing off or for play it is a great setup.The dividers are small enough to allow for complete exhibitionism and casual play but large enough to conceal a boner in case someone walks in.
I have only been twice, since I don't have the city-wide membership and it is a little far for me to go routinely, but it is definitely worth checking out. A friend from here told me that the West Side Y by Columbus Circle gets more action, but I haven't had a chance to go there yet.
