Orville Peck (masked Country Singer)

Wow, thanks for all the wonderful advice and support about going to the concert alone. I’m not someone who shies away from doing things alone and have gone to Broadway shows, operas and symphonies, but I’ve only been to about three contemporary music artist concerts and it’s not a venue I know my way around and feel comfortable at. I’m so removed that I was kind of shocked when I looked into the venue and saw where the place to buy beer was located. Of course you can get wine and beer in the venues I mentioned above, but I wasn’t expecting that at a concert.

And then there’s my history and trauma of growing up in my town and its history of being homophobic. It maybe decades since then, but I just don’t know what to expect, even if I want to be optimistic that things have changed. At least being outside I can park myself in a far corner and still enjoy the music if the crowd is to overwhelming. I know this is a naive question, but I guess nobody actually sits down at a concert anymore right?

You should definitely go! I drove to Nashville alone to see him at the Ryman Auditorium a couple years ago and had an amazing experience. The crowd is mostly queer but everyone genuinely loves Orville. Bonus…I got to meet him and took a selfie with him after the show on his way to his tour bus. He stopped and didn’t get on his bus until he interacted with every single person who was waiting. Amazing guy who loves his fans.

He’s looking a bit too juiced. I hope he’s not entering Zac Efron territory.
Doing steroids doesn’t change your appearance like that. He’s either bulking (eating more to gain muscle mass and eventually doing a “cutting” phase to shed excess fat and retain muscle growth). Or he may have changed anxiety medications which are known to cause bloating/weight retention. I only offer that since he himself canceled the end of his 2023 tour for “mental health reasons.” It’s definitely not steroids meant for muscle mass. If anything he’s only gained fat. I see no muscle growth. Not judging. Just being honest. He looks great in my opinion.

Good to know, I don’t think anyone was saying he looks bad. He just looks a bit different, and I couldn’t put my finger on what made me think that.

Totally get the sentiment, and have avoided several events for similar reasons ... but every time I've gone alone it's been a great experience.
