Paul Mescal From Hulu's Normal People

The sex scenes in Normal People are so hot!

He is. But fuck me the programme is soooooooo slow and so many pointless silent boring scenes. I managed to plough through it all but it seriously dragged even with his beautiful face in it.
really?! I loved it! the perfect pace for me. felt like reading a book. only difference is i pop a boner everytime he shows up!

Yeah really. It was incredibly boring I thought. I only stuck with it because of him otherwise I’d have given up. Was just like watching two kids at school who couldn’t make their minds up with what they wanted. There was no real depth or substance to any of it really. Like zero. It felt to watch a lot like ‘Call Me By Your Name’ which was also incredibly slow and dull and again I only managed to stay with it because of the beautiful cast.

That’s the problem. A slow burn usually builds to something. Neither Normal People or Call Me By Your Name went anywhere. They gave nothing. The burn just fizzled out.
Sorry to just chip in...
I think it’s because this was a character driven drama, not a plot driven one. It was rather a character (or a relationship) examination so to speak.
Usually I’m with you in cases like this, but Normal People really sucked me in, mostly because I related very deeply with Connell and Marianne, I even cried through 3 episodes.

But I get where you’re coming from.

See I like character driven programmes but I don’t feel we actually got to know the characters. We found out very very little about them. It wasn’t really relationship driven to me either. It was just about sex and beyond that there wasn’t anything. It was like watching two kids at school.
