only time i was pretty worried in a flight
was one of the many trips i took on a 6/8 or 10 seater smaller aircraft from NZs mainland to my Island home i call it,x 8 years

we kept on circling for 1/2 an hour or so,after the 1/2 hour flight
piolet was the nice guy sort who kept us informed totally, including saying we were running low on fuel
fog was covering all the airports
he chose to stay local, instead of going out further

it lifted ... who knows how much was left
we landed, he said partially smiling
'the fuel was pretty low'

not very or dangerously, he added ha
5 of us,only 2/he,another piolet getting a ride, plus 3 passengers

i honestly thought we would be a 5 death small aircraft stat
not all that unusual, then again not very common considering the billions of flights WW annually, i am figuring

It's very likely he had enough fuel to divert back to mainland NZ had it been necessary. Most commercial carriers do this as a rule.
