They are not stupid! They are criminal! As criminal, are the politicians who allow them to do this! They should pay so long, as the nature has spent to raise these trees! I am furious!

I can't help but wonder if this is mother nature's version of "build, and they will come".

I think so @yhtang; some rare birds are nesting including pelicans from far south and bald eagles, even the occasional manatee is cruising by. This reconstruction was accomplished using dredged material from deepening the Baltimore shipping channel depth to 60 feet. It served mother nature well and enhanced human productivity. Several other submerged Chesapeake Bay islands will be similarly reconstructed.

I would love to drive this road. I think my former 1962 Volvo 544 with manual 4 speed shift would be the most fun. It was a mountain goat for sure. I managed to drive 110,000 miles in that car. It was similar to the attached one and had tank like solidity.fullsizeoutput_83bc.jpeg

So, there is still hope ...! However, I fear that the difference between reconstruction and destruction is enormous and, sooner or later, the entire human species will pay for the greed of some who only think about profit and become rich by appropriating what belongs to us!

Oh I have hope @John Again , even though the world is overpopulated and greed is rampant, there must be a solution to save the planet that nourishes us. I understand that The Netherlands has enlightened the world concerning conservation of land and species and has provided a blueprint for all sorts of innovative water/land/port conservation engineering.

My house fronts on waters of Chesapeake Bay, set back 150 feet as currently mandated for housing. Chesapeake Bay has countless mangroves, we call them swamps locally because we are only subtropical. Some of these swamps are eons old and consist of cypress trees and knees as well as murky shallow water . They are lifegiving incubators that everyone here seems to want to preserve. The Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge (a mangrove on steroids at 45 square miles) is about 50 water miles south of me and is visited and studied by people from all over the world.
