I'd been to the palace before and seen a little bit of the gardens. But this was the first time going out this far. Absolutely worth. The hamlet is so cute and peaceful.

Many years past the Loma Prieta earthquake, the Bay Bridge section linking Oakland to Yerba Buena Island was rebuilt. It had collapsed during the earthquake, crushing cars and humans.

The quake was 1989. The new Bay Bridge opened in 2013. [Construction started in ‘02.]
This shot was of the deconstruction of the 1936 bridge, taken in 2016.
