Here's a clip from one article:IMG_6642.jpeg

I'm not sure if there is a controversy there other than fans wanting him to keep it up. It's also pretty well known that Netflix DOES NOT PAY well. He probably made the right move for his career and it appears he might have been up front about it from the beginning.

There’s literally nothing. I guess they’re just trying to start drama. Back in 2021 she said that they had offered him to stay on as the duke when there was a huge backlash from fans (who likely simply didn’t understand his character played no further part in the story because they had not read the books) after it was announced that he won’t be reprising his role in subsequent seasons. He declined. That’s all there was to it.

It probably wouldn’t have been a fully fledged out role anyway because his character isn’t a part of the story after the first book. It would have just been fan service and bad writing trying to fit him in. He was right to turn it down. Even Shonda acknowledged as much.

Yeah, he would have popped up for the croquet sequence and got a one-liner in, probably had a nice scene with one of Anthony's love interests about the challenges of joing their weird-ass family. Maybe they'd have written in a spicy scene for him and Daphne to air midseason since the structure of season two didn't allow for as much sex/nudity as season one.

In other words, he would have been demoted from male lead to minor supporting character. It's no wonder he didn't want to do that.

Now, I think in a perfect world, he leaves the show as a series regular but they get him back as a guest star for one episode, having him accompany Daphne to the big Bridgerton ball, letting him show up to the croquest scene, etc. As a one-episode thing, I think they could throw everything from my first paragraph into one episode and given him a big enough role to make it worth a week of his time.

Ah well!

I mean he did call his character a F***boy in a subsequent interview after season 1. I’m not saying there is any real drama between him and Shonda (she probably couldn’t care less) I just think it would be beneficial for him to clear the air and maybe let her know he’s available (because at this point let’s face it he is DEFINITELY available) for any future seasons of Bridgerton or other projects she is developing

He made a choice to not make himself available for future seasons of Bridgerton. There is is no reason for him to go back on that.

Some of y'all are acting like you have some sort of say over this man's life decisions. And if so, you're totally wrong for using your influence to get him back on Bridgerton and not into more roles with graphic nudity and highly explicit sexual content.

He really didn’t. If anyone made the choice it was the author, Julia Quinn, who only included his character in the first book, lol.
My understanding is that the character continues to play a supporting role in the second book, similar to the role that Daphne has in the second season of the show.

But certainly both his statements and Rhimes' statements indicate that an offer was on the table to return and he declined it.

He definitely is prettier in live action. He has a strong presence, talks and carries himself in a very sexy manner, and commands attention. Very little of that can be caught in a photo.
