Apparently he didn't initially as he was fourth in the nationals and he hasn't met the qualifying standard of 8.33 with his jumps. But it seems you can also qualify based on your world ranking and I believe he is in the top 32 in the world right now ( 20th for 2024, I heard?) so that gets him in..

I had a feeling he wasn’t top contender for the USA so he went to Jamaica and easily qualified for them. Very common if athletes have duel citizenship and can’t meet high US standards in the sport. Sport is his life at the moment so whatever he has to do to become an Olympian.
He does not have dual citizenship, though. He was born and raised in Jamaica and only started school in the US on scholarship a few years ago.
