They need to hire new writers who will also give us a good story. Honestly this season was from meh to OMFG bad (bats carrying a dead body? Really?), and the only reason I keep watching it is the hope for another shirtless/nude/sexy scene

Honestly I haven’t loved this show from the start. I was an old school comic book reader, and the Wolfman/Perez New Teen Titans series was near perfection. Blending action and interpersonal storytelling in a compelling mix.

Of course, this was back in the days when it wasn’t all about extreme violence and seeing how gritty and horrific you could make things.

The Titans were the family that they chose, and it showed.

This (and frankly every new attempt in the comics to recreate that) have failed miserably to capture that storytelling chemistry. I do think the second season was better than the first (once it moved past that disappointing Trigon fiasco), but it still felt like the Dollar Store version of the Titans.

They barely wore costumes. They used excessive violence. Starfire’s powers were changed to, well, star fire. Beast Boy might as well change his name to Tiger Boy as that seems to be the only shape he can take.

I like the cast, and I think the show has potential, but it’s just missing a bit of that magic.

See I'm kinda the exact opposite, I overall enjoyed the series, last weeks episode being the let down. That being said it sounds like Gar will be transforming into other things (I think Raven helped him figure that out) and he did transform into a bat. Also I do believe they have plans for lgbt representation. I read somewhere that Jericho who is trapped in Rose's body is gay but the actress couldn't return for the season, so they put that story on hold (take that with a grain of salt). As for how it compares to comics I don't know, I wasn't allowed to read those as a kid so =/

yeah no, if they do a jericho mlm story while he's still trapped in rose's body it doesn't count

To be fair, I haven’t watched the 3rd season yet. Too far behind on my watchlist (I may never catch up lol). And I know a lot of people like it, for a lot of the same reasons that I don’t love it. I’m sure the problem is more with me than with the series. After over 30 years of collecting comics, I finally quit a few years back as the comics industry changed too much and I felt left behind.

I have recently started dabbling again, but mostly with LGBTQ titles (the new Aquaman series, some recent Hulkling/Wiccan stuff, the Robin coming out issue and the new Superman title). Still not the comics of my youth, but closer than a lot of the stuff out there.

There's no need at all...

Says you...

There's no REAL need for any relationships on a show like this but you can be damn skippy if they shove hetero shit down our throats I want the flipside to be available to us as well. Because newsflash - you can like dick and still be a gritty/dark superhero which is just more of a reason to show gay superheroes on live TV.

The show had already a gay character, and top of that the actor was trans... The point they have to use the characters that are already gay and not change the other ones just because...

Who? Last I checked none of the main stars (aka the characters people actually watch the show for) were gay/Bi. Throwing in some side character just to appease people and get a check box marked is bs.

You bring up Chella Man (the trans actor has a name, btw) playing Jericho which is nice, but a) Jericho wasn't trans in the show nor was he gay iirc.

And lastly, that excuse of "changing characters just because" went out the window when you have Ryan possibly saying Gar is bisexual and interviews saying that Superboy (who's obviously an already well established) character would be exploring his sexuality. By your logic there should be nothing to explore since... HELLO... he's straight.

But this whole conversation is tiresome and I've already had mods delete some of my posts so lets just end it here since at the end of the day whether or not they make any of the characters gay/bi, it's above our paygrade to have any input on the decision.

Jericho was not sideline in the 2nd season, a big important character...

And where is he now.....? Being a central part of the plot for a season does not make a main character. The core characters in Titans are:
-Superboy
-Raven
-Jason
-Starfire
-Dick

--Hawk and Dove get honorary mention since I'm generous.

Anyone else is basically a supporting cast mate.

The irony being that literally every member of the core cast has been reduced to a supporting character constantly servicing Dick's narrative.
(Starfire, Donna and Rachel {in that one standalone ep} being the possible exceptions when they aren't sucked into Dick's A plot)
