If I had to guess the really old stuff may not have been 100% legal or the paperwork was lost? The latter seems more likely. I was a CF person after I'd finished hs and sc stuff was never appealing to me. CF had some great models at that time and they rapidly disappeared as the early 2010s rolled around. Haven't bothered with any pro stuff since then.
