For many of these guys, yes. They live in rural areas, don't have a college degree and they're working minimum wage jobs. Many of them run into some sort of trouble- drugs, gambling, a DUI, and need quick cash. Their families are not in a position to give them any money, so porn becomes an attractive option

Agreed. There are a multitude of reasons as to why guys do gay porn, but for some I'm sure it wasn't out of desperation, but simply because they enjoyed the thrill or the attention.

David's also not the only one with an ostensibly stable background. I know Brysen wrestled for the University of Michigan, and if I'm not mistaken Duke ended up graduating from (or at least attending) Columbia. Sure, plenty of Sean Cody performers have mugshots, but not all of them do.

I do not disagree with you - the curiosity factor was there for many of them for sure, or it was at least what pushed them over the line. And many of them do clearly enjoy it. They sort of have to-- SC is not one of those studios where the straight guy can watch pussy porn on his phone dispassionately while a gay guy blows him. The "role" calls for a lot more umm, interaction.

So it is likely that a porn shoot is how some of them scratched that itch.

But the initial impetus was almost always some sort of money thing. Not always for a lawyer but as a way out of what seemed like a dead-end life.

As for Brysen, I was surprised at first too, given he wrestled at UM. But Brysen is gay and you watch his interviews and get a sense of his personality, and it's no surprise he's doing porn.

Whereas David is ostensibly straight--he's married to a woman now--and so I'm curious what got him to start and what got him to stay.
