Beyto is a Swiss German film about a Turkish man who falls in love with his German swimming coach but is forced to go back to Turkey and marry a girl who he has been friends with since childhood even though she doesn’t want to marry him and he tells her he is gay. She wants to go to university. After the wedding they go back to Germany and the lovers get back together and she gets to study. The film says a lot about Turkish attitudes and society, and is really good. The happy ending makes it even better.

Turkey is not that bad. Turkey is not iran. Turkey is the second most gay friendly country after israel. Making these two countries the only middle eastern countries stable for lgbt people. Sure, theres still a lot of work to do in turkey for lgbt rights. Especially with Erdogan still elected. But once turkish people elects a democrate, things will get better in turkey for lgbt rights. It unfortunately wont be the case in iran or any other middle easter countries. But turkey can be saved. Turkey have a potential. Turkey is also a country were religion dont dictate everthing. Like in other middle eastern countries. Turkey used to be more liberal. Thats why turkey used to produce porn in the 70s. But it was temporary.
Turkey will eventually have same sex marriages. But it will take a long time. Turkey is the only middle eastern country left who have a possibility for same sex marriages. Erdogan might not be re-elected in the next election. So a democrate could be elected. Which would be good for turkey. Many turkish actors supports lgbt rights. Like Kadir Dogulu. And i'm pretty sure that his wife also supports lgbt rights. Kadir Dogulu have a gay brother. Istambul is the most gay friendly place in turkey. The mentality of turkish is closer to the mentality of europeans. At least in istanbul they do. You would be surprised by the amount of turkish people who supports lgbt rights.

Not publicly because it can affect his acting career in Turkey but I know his closest friends from high school but nowadays he's trying new things.

Its surprising that turkish gay characters are still not shown on turkish tv shows. From what i heard, many turkish actors supports lgbt rights. Especially the ones that works in istambul. The turkish goverment are the ones who dont want lgbt progress. So they are in the way. Once a democrate is finally elected, things will get better for lgbt rights
I see some gay characters on turkish dramas as fashion designers or in stereotipical characters.
Never for example as a politic,as an engineer or a doctor ( someone with medicine studies or an odontologist )
Of course there are. Being gay is natural, religion is not. But the Turks take their made-up religion very seriously, and if you want to live an openly gay lifestyle as a Turkish person, you must live it in another country. The celebrities who are gay live closeted lifestyles and as you suggested, are set up with partners. The way you can tell which are gay are the ones who get the "swimming pool/beach paparazzi" treatment, like this. This one's Yilmaz Kunt.

Burak Deniz gives bisexual vibes. Maybe he is into men sexually. Theres no way to know for sure. Because all lgbt turkish actors are in the closet. I wish that eventually turkish actors will come out and say that they are gay.
