Shawn Mendes

No I was thankfully not forced out, just like no one forced Shawn out. But folks did talk, and made assumptions about my sexuality. When I admitted to being gay others smiled and said, "I/We knew." Like Shawn, I too am no actor.

The resentment you felt from the guys that called you out, wasn't at all about speculating on your sexuality, it was the fact that they speculated that you're not straight. The feeling of shame wont go away, when even pop stars with enough in the bank to retire, run in fear.

Shawn has no obligation to be or do anything more than he's comfortable doing. But as a member of the public, I too have no obligation to stop my speculation on these celebs.

Thanks for the reminder on the song. I haven't listened till now. I like it, certainly 3rd single vibes. I feel like it will be the highest charting from this album. Give it a listen folks!
must have been unclear .... there was no speculation.... the dudes i was referring to ....i knew... they knew...i was gay....they resented took me longer to come out than they did... a group i ran with at the time... years later, it's a beautiful day to be alive....

Its funny how the gays here think they can dictate if the public comments on Shawn’s sexuality. Relax. You guys can’t. Just worry about your personal life. Fame has always had its drawbacks. It cannot be rewritten.

Shawn chose a public life. With it comes interest and scruitny. SNL makes fun of public figures. It is not that deep.

Im sorry that Shawn’s experience has triggered your childhood trauma on coming out. If it hurts so much stop engaging with Shawn thread. Go to therapy and heal.

It’s not that they make fun of public figures it’s that SNL sucks and isn’t funny

Everyone I come in this thread you writing a paragraph about something or being annoyingly concerned about stuff that don’t matter like how well his albums gonna do

you writing a paragraph about something or being annoyingly concerned about stuff that don’t matter
We could say the same about all of you. Writing massive TED talks defending someone like y'all were his knights in shining armor and projecting yourselves onto Shaw being annoyingly and concerned about stuff that don't matter xD

It's not that deep, people take this shit way too serious, we all knew Shawn was not straight, the only debate was whether or not he would come out in his 20s or marry a woman and only come out in his 40s. I'm glad he chose the former.
I still think by taking that very vague still figuring out comment as a concrete coming out a lot of you are setting yourselves up for disappointment for when he inevitably only dates women publicly and is never seen with a man. Especially given his recent hanging out and spotting with that ecuadorian activist

This wasn’t directed at you specifically it’s just a lot of people are jumping the gun and your comment just happened to be the most recent one I saw.

Dude, how did you determine I had childhood trauma from what I said. I was 25 years old when I decided...I decided...when to come out. My friends were just trying to pressure me to come out a couple of years earlier, but I have no lingering regret or trauma as you characterized my life. So no therapy needed, counselor. But thanks for your concern. So everyone relax... all i was trying to do is advocate for the notion that each of our coming out journey is each of ours and ours alone. Was suggesting we respect boundairies and show respect for each other. Not ll that radical a suggestion. But i'm not on here to argue...so for those of you who may think differently, you have every right to. Jake

He has not come out.

Yall weirdos gonna have to understand that just because he or any male celeb comes out the closet doesnt mean you have a shot with them. :joy: a lot of this speculation is mostly you guys who want to get with him but its not likely yall ever will. In other words, who cares what his sexuality is.
lol i wrote a whole passive aggressive post about how “you’ll never have him” (including myself) and the delusional gays draaaagggeddd me. The traumatised gays made it all about themselves. The gay liberation warriors made it all about everyone else except for Shawn 😂😂😂

Yet the fact remains, not one of us will ever have Shawn.
