Other than music videos and such, I think his only true acting credit was a cameo on “The 100” years back, where his role was just a set up to play piano and sing during a montage. He also did bit parts in an SNL skit or two.
I have no doubt he’s been offered roles, but I suspect he’s usually been offered fluff YA romance type roles (we know he was up for Love, Simon)... he has the looks certainly, but his voice betrays him and is too soft for the roles he probably would want (and maybe he’s been a bit discouraged if all he keeps getting are scripts for gay/queer roles).

And hollywood is unfortunately and sadly much less forgiving and more cynical than generic twitter trolls, regardless of any woke idealism... other than for a cameo or stunt casting, if you think a studio is going to bank on Shawn as a Zac Efron type bro or Chris Pratt type every Joe, then that’s fantasy. Maybe just maybe he’d be cast in one of those offbrand Disney fairy tale types (like the 18th version of Cinderella that Camila stared in), in a non-threatening soft Prince Charming type to play opposite of the strong-willed princess/heroine. That’s not fan fiction or societal stereotype, it’s hollywood… cold, cynical, calculating, pretending to be woke, Hollywood.
