That is such a silly comment when you have a gender listed on your profile. Was that an attempt to be edgy?
No. Even when gender is listed on a profile it may not be fixed (e.g. gender fluid) or a person may be in the process of transitioning. Modern etiquette stipulates you don’t assume and always check with the person if they’re a stranger.
