The issue with this perspective is that “straight” still has a ton of privilege when it comes to men aka like half of the dudes who post in thread and/or spend money on his OF would not be doing so if he were “gay presenting”. One of the reasons so many guys still lean on being “straight presenting” or “DL” is because there’s still a lot of social, ego, financial collateral and protection in doing so. Until that privilege and protection dissipates it’ll remain a point of contention.
I been stopped taking identities that seriously. A lot of “labels” is about sociology. It’s especially important not to take sex workers that seriously. While everyone has their own dimensions, journeys, insecurities, preferences, experiences with fluidity, place in the gender, sexual, romantic, emotion, commitment spectrum. However, we’re not about to ignore the privilege there is still in being “straight”/“straight-ish” presenting. Like, this dude isn’t even that good-looking or charismatic and doesn’t have much of a dick. A lot of y’all mainly give this guy attention because he’s “straight presenting” and douche-y.

It’s almost like men who are attracted to men are going to be more attracted to men who behave like typical men.
There are plenty of hot, out queer males who “behave like typical men”
and they still don’t get a great level of attention from you guys. It’s presenting as “straight”/“straight-ish” and embracing a douche-bag bro persona that gets folks talking and triggers certain fetishes and fantasies. These guys are well aware of that.As much as some of you would like to remove internalized phobias, queer insecurities, gay inferiorities, mental health from the equation they can’t be removed. It’s one of the reasons I stopped obsessing with identities and started seeing people as individuals with their own dimensions, struggles, priorities and places in the gender, sexual, romantic, emotion, commitment spectrum. I realized too many people (particularly “queer” men) used “labels” as a way to segregate, to create social and ego based clout, and to promote themselves.
