I am outlining how out of touch his thinking was to choose to go through with an elective cosmetic surgery while his wife was due any day. His first children. Unless you are overseas deployed or something out of the ordinary, you don't miss the birth of your kid for anything.

It was not cosmetic. When your chest is shaped like that you develop heart and lung issues.
His surgery was during the Covid lockdowns, I don't think he had much say as to when it could be scheduled, so he couldn't work around his wife's pregnancy.
I think you're intentionally ignoring all POVs in order to push a narrative that doesn't really fit the scenario.
