Full fledged relationships with men are no longer a necessity for a woman's socioeconomic existence, and so women can initially afford to be a bit more picky than they already naturally are, hyperfocusing upon the few desirable men(and often sharing them) as opposed to settling for an average one.
Now, perhaps for a lot of young men's propensity to become complacent or not be willing to offer more than the bare minimum in effort towards relationships, I don't think it's the worst thing.....the problems are the statistical consequences which are unchecked hypergamy leading back to the oligarchal patriarchy of old , or older women dying alone without having established any type of legacy, in spite of being over educated and out earning women of yesteryear.
