I believe that there may be some legitimacy to the notion that Steven fabricated some things about his videos to increase revenue.
I am surprised that there wasn't more information subsequent to his murder. I searched unsuccessfully to find out if the suspected murderer was arraigned and sentenced, all to no avail. I was unable to find even a photograph of the suspect. When the gay flight attendant Nicholas Aaronson was murdered in Mexico City, there was a follow-up on the murderer. Why this is not the case in this instance baffles me.

Absolutely, there is no updates in this respect. Reports online told that the suspect was found near the crime scene (?). Very weird. If the crime was committed around 2am/3am and the Police arrived early in the morning, why the suspect was still there, fooling around? Waiting for the Police, to get caught, or what? It makes no sense.

maybe he faked his own death and was in hiding, who knows. must have a lot of lawsuits against his ass when his videos became too popular. am I the only who finds it strange that he suddenly died a year after he was here, ass blazing and cursing at people for sharing his vids. Your theory makes little sense. Costa Rican police wouldn't create such a thing. What about the stabbed body? Local Canadian authorities must have been contacted as Steven must have been in possession of his passport in the camper. Conspiracy theories do not apply here! because it's so diffcult to believe that people will go to great lengths to avoid jail time.
plus, how can you fake your own death without leaving an evidence that it's your body, if there's a body at all, hence leaving evidence like a passport.

Is there a way to look up court or arrest records in Costa Rica?? Maybe we can find the case n find out what was the outcome
