He says when that happened, the guys wanted the lights off so he did what they wanted because he felt like if he didn't maybe they wouldn't feel comfortable enough to do anything. I believe his backstory is very complicated, not sure why he left Canada and when he arrived in Central American how did he support himself? Then the rather abrupt way he left. When he said that he would be going to the airport & leaving, I just assumed he'd be back because his truck and camper would still be there.
