Shooting on video tape changed everything.
Suddenly you had fast cameras with sync sound, and the best thing: tape was basically free and re-usable!
So that led to overlong movies with a LOT of useless padding.
You would need to go back to the original VHS or DVD editions and edit the good bits onto digital..
..but who's got the time?
