It's already my fave movie of all time. I've seen it 5 times, read the book twice while also listening to the audiobook. And it just gets me really down everytime. I think I already need therapy
I feel the same. It's truly a bittersweet experience .

I saw it twice this week. This film deserves every award for which it's nominated, though sadly it might not win most/any of the oscars. I'd easily give it best picture, best actor, best song and best adapted screenplay. what a return to force for james ivory!

one of the most beautiful, melancholy films i have ever seen. i was definitely still crying during the last scene, still trying to recuperate from that early beautiful, GORGEOUSLY written scene with his father. OMG. pass me the tissues!

I think it will win on the best adaptive screenplay though. Hopefully the other nominations as well.

I've seen it four times already; each time with a different group of people. I have loved each viewing and want to see it once more in the theater before it gets removed. Yes. I have read the book and I listen to the music on a daily basis. I absolutely LOVE everything about this work of art!
Yesyes true! And when you discuss the movie with other people all the emotions that you felt watching it will come rushing down back at you. Everytime

Did the film evoke anyone's feelings of their first love and how it ended? Definitely did for me. I identified very closely to Elio, how he behaved around Oliver especially when he realised the attraction. Haha. The feeling of when it ended, like everything else had and nothing would be better was very real.

Very much the same feeling with yours. It is really tragic how the movie ended. They didn't even get to see eachother for the last time unlike the book. What got really got me was that Oliver was very standoffish at first but it was really him who liked Elio more.

that phone call scene was a heart breaker. that face and longing from elio and the way he speaks.
Yup. And the raw emotion in the final scene in front of the fireplace. Very well conveyed even without words

Yeah I've only seen it once because it took me to a emotional place I didn't want to feel again. We've all been there at one time or another.

It is really sad?
You scared me, I do not want to read your message too much because I have not seen it yet, it is not yet released in France
But i am already in love of armie hamer

c'est triste mais de façon mélancolique. pas de raison d'avoir peur. ;) c'est à voir absolument.

I know. But the feeling you get when they confess their love for eachother brkngs you to a very special place where you once felt that first love and happiness only to be crushed though at the end of the movie :((

It’s not very sad, for the most part is a really joyful film. Just lovely. The scenes and the setting are s beautiful. Like a long, summer holiday. Wish I could be there.

You should listen to the audiobook - it is read by Armie Hammer. His voice is like hot chocolate. Haha.

Yup most of the parts are really lovely and nice! But the feeling that will linger after the movie ends is the sadness and heart brokeness :(

The movie took me back to 1983 when I was 17 and totally infatuated with my neighbor Randy who was 20 or 21. Blonde, blue-eyed and an incredible body thanks to his high school football days. I clearly remember the day I walked over to visit him at his parent's home. I accidentally walked in on him while he was putting on shorts. The sight of him in his tighty whities made me freeze in my tracks. I literally wanted to strip naked and allow him to have his way with me but I was way too shy then. In retrospect, he probably would have obliged. He was known in the neighborhood to be quite the player and over-sexed. Ah, bittersweet memories.

Had a very similar thing back when i was in my teens as well with my across the road neighbour.
He was in his early twenties always hanging around with his shirt off and sporting a noticeable decent sized bulge.
I use to make any kind of excuse to go over there or hang around just to get any glimpses at him LOL.
Saw him in his underwear once when he was in his room but was wearing boxers so couldn't really make out much of his size...still was nice to see :)

Everyone who saw the movie can totally relate one aspect or another. It may not be through first love but the experiences they have gone through. The heartbreak, the excitement, and the what not. Which makes the movie so great

I'm going to see it again today (my fifth time). However, I'm going to see it alone for the full affect!
