Yeah, there is no viable reason for those two characters to reunite in any kind of meaningful way. The author’s own sequel proved this.

It may be a long time before we see Timmy making out with any guys on camera again, unfortunately. Leo & Keanu also played gay early in their careers, because it screams “Serious Actor!” But not so much after they hit it big.

True about Keanu etc. but that was when the film industry & society were much more resistant to depicting gay characters and gay sex on screen, and there were no diversity quotas in place, now if the script was interesting to them there wouldn't be much preventing them from playing LGBT+ again.
