wow from interviews he does not seem like the type to date one of them talentless idiots.
I’m blaming the Kardashians for his Apple commercials (or Apple for him dating a Kardashian) haha… either way, hope Timmy pulls out of this commercialism/basic-ness spiral and gets back to being adorable and acting in indies soon.
The Kardashian date story seems to be the final nail in the coffin of his once very highly-touted indie cred for his (aging) fanbase.
As others have noted, none of his performances since Call Me By Your Name and Lady Bird have hit the right mix of critical acclaim and popularity. He still has some time to recover, but it won't be this year with Dune part 2 and the (unnecessary, IMO) Willie Wonka remake. I mean is he using Johnny Depp's post-indie career as a template? If so, good luck.

Either I open this thread and it's people complaining that he's still doing niche films like Bones & All or the Dylan Biopic...or people complaining about him doing kitschy, mainstream affairs like Wonka...or complaining about him doing Blockbusters like Dune—or even worse, completely non-sensical Depp comparisons. Complaints are fine obviously but, ultimately, each choice isn't going to please everyone because we all have different tastes. I think Beautiful Boy and Don't Look Up were terrible but it is what it is, doesn't mean he's lost his spark or he needs my career advice. In my opinion, he's done pretty much the best he can with the few "prestige" roles in his age range to choose from (especially given that he often looks even younger than he actually is). If anything, I think it's good that a lot of the projects are dissimilar, given how easy it is to be typecast—and, aside from Paul Mescal, he still seems to be one of the most in demand film actors under 30.

Oh I could care less who he dates. Other than Kim Kardashian, I would not be able to correctly name and identify who was a Kardashian or a Jenner.
However I like films so on that I will still sometimes give my opinion as I see you sure do as well! My Chamalet opinion is not too dissimilar from many on "Film Twitter" and I stand by it.

-He was nominated for a literal Oscar for CMBYN, one of the youngest nominees ever. Both CMBYN and Lady Bird were financially and critically successful and they are the films that catapulted him into superstardom.
-Dune was a huge success (that’s why it got a Part II), and Chalamet plays the starring role in a film based on one of the most beloved sci fit novels of all time, directed by one of the most sought after directors of his generation. He didn’t even have to audition. They asked for him by name.
-“Wonka remake.” well, firstly, it’s not a remake, it’s an original life story of the Wonka character. But beyond that, it’s directed by Paul King, who made both Paddington films, two of the most beloved children’s classics of this century.
-other than Wonka, what actual similarities have you found between Chalamet and Depp’s careers, other than “male, actors, did some indie roles” which could apply to a thousand other actors?
