The UK is indeed impounding vaccines - in fact it has since the very beginning.

The EU exported 25 million doses of coronavirus vaccines in February to 31 countries around the world, with Britain and Canada the top destinations, just as the bloc saw its own supply cut drastically by pharmaceutical companies. Ban or no ban, Britain is not exporting vaccines authorised for use at home, and has administered nearly 21million doses, the vast majority of which has been produced in the EU.
They have based on the UK Foreign Office's comment, which isn't a great source. The EU maintains that - while it is technically correct that there has been no specific export stop, the UK has used other legal mechanisms - including procurement laws and dubious contract clauses - that have resulted in the same outcome.
Is the UK exporting any vaccine? No. Is the EU exporting a lot of vaccine? Yes. Are EU factories being used to supply the UK before the EU against the contract that AZ signed with the EU? Yes.
I'm not saying the EU is completely in the right either and definitely has fucked it badly in some regard, but the claim over vaccine nationalism from the UK is frankly ridiculous. Plus it has literally nothing to do with Brexit...the vaccine procurement scheme by the EU is voluntary.

When you say “the EU has exported”, you mean “vaccine producers in EU countries”. Not quite the same thing.
In terms of the AZ contract with the EU, it’s subject to interpretation but speaking as a lawyer, the EU got it wrong and AZ is in the right.
It arguably doesn’t matter given the suspension of AZ use by a number of EU countries and VDL’s latest insane outburst.

Each country has its own programme - that's why they can suspend its use. but, hey, facts... oh and what about the businesses going out of business and the economy tanking?
Yes when I say the EU exported, I of course mean vaccine producers in EU countries given only the Russian vaccine is state produced so far...which is the same for vaccine producers in the UK that aren't delivering anything out of the UK.
Thanks for your legal opinion but it is besides the point.
Also great to hear that you are with Tom on this one, but not sure what this has to do this. As you might be aware - as a lawyer - this is completely besides the membership of the EU and countries were able to join voluntarily or do their own thing (e.g. Hungary)...this is not the Brexit dividend we've all been waiting for.

Remoaners will never admit they are wrong and we’d be up shit creek/harwood bottom without Boris and our wonderful vaccination program. Meanwhile the EU did manage to unite Ireland and the loyalists... against their vaccine policy! That is quite an achievement! Now they seem to be saying the same risk of clots from taking the pill is worth old people dying.

The businesses that have gone out of business wouldn't agree. the economy has tanked (which of course you ignore) and the vaccine programme could have gone ahead if we'd still been in the EU. Anyone who thinks that there’s an ‘EU vaccine programme’ or that the ‘EU seems to be saying...’ (about pausing over the clotting issue - whatever your own expert opinion on the clinical evidence) is so fundamentally ignorant of what they’re talking about (clue: learn the basic difference between EU and member states’ policies) it’s no wonder they are breathlessly uncritical cheerleaders of a career liar like Johnson and his handling of Covid which has been medically and economically amongst the most disastrous in the world. The only thing that the UK has got right is rolling out the vaccine programme, which has been largely down to the NHS logistics rather than government, and even then the stats (should you ever be troubled by such niceties) clearly show the SNP-run Scotland and the Labour-run Wales ahead of the areas in which the UK-government is primarily responsible. And by the way, do please stop using words like ‘remoaners’: it makes you sound like an adolescent dick, which I’m sure you’re not. Which brings us nicely back to Tom Harwood...
