This is more how it's done on the pro side of the industry. I did mostly proam and we only needed 1-2 hours to shoot a scene because I could transition seamlessly most of the time and my camera person usually knew what I planned to do and I would give cues for when I was going to switch something up so they could be in the right position. We only used one camera and it was hand held not stationary so they could move and cut when they needed to. Usually they just kept rolling and if something needed cut out they could do that in editing.
Yeah, that's what editing is. You film raw footage and then you edit it down to what you want the final product to be.
I forgot to mention 7 hours for a pro shoot isn't bad. My best friend Nash Lawler, aka Kenny, did a lot of pro shoots and he had some that had him on set for up to 14 hours. I only did a couple pro gigs and that side of the industry definitely wasn't for me. Way more work for the same pay, no thanks.
What are you differentiating as pro work vs not pro work? Wasn't all of your porn "pro"? That is. Studio porn?

The studio I worked for was amateur. We didn't have the big budget long shoots with all the multiple cameras and professional camera people, grips, director, etc. We just had a couple lights and one camera person with a handheld. We referred to it as proam. When I did pro shoots it was on a set usually in LA somewhere with all the jazz. Sat there for hours waiting for them to get things setup then the scene took hours to shoot. I only did a couple of those, wasn't for me. I don't have that kind of patience.
