When the door opened and we entered most of the lights where off and a few candles were lit, two frat members placed a sack over are head so we couldn’t see and were guided in to the corner of the room, after a few minutes passed the sacks were taken off our heads, I looked around and saw 8 other boys lined up next to me and Jack and standing infront of us were the 5 main leaders of the frat, the leader being Mason, who shouted “repeat after me” , he then proceeded to tell us the fraternity oath we had to repeat and as it was in 2020 I cant remember it too well but it went something like, “I promise to uphold the ideals and principles of Alpha Delta Phi, and to show loyalty to my fellow brothers of Alpha delta phi, and I swear secrecy regarding the handshake and initiation rituals” , it went on a lot longer than that but that was basically the jist of things.

After we sweared the oath of allegiance the lights came back on and everyone cheered for us. Me and Jack smiled at each other, as this was the day we became official frat brothers. Everyone started to mingle and cheer in excitement as we got to know the other freshman who were also accepted but this was quickly silenced when Mason the frat leader shouted “NOW, join us in the dining room for our first official, let’s say just say, get to know ya game” Mason said smirking, the other freshman looked at each other with a worried look on their face, whilst the frat leaders just smiled at each other. As we walked in to the dining room there was nothing but a game of beer bong set up.

Yes it's a story but part of the author posting it here is to get feedback, develop the story further and enhance his skills.

It is a well written story, but there are some things the author should consider.

Trying to pass it off as yourself and a true story is strange. You say that you, Adam, are from New York, but you are clearly British (ie. writing, phrasing, and character names). Also NCAA football programs like Florida States are completely different than you described. You dont just signup and tryout, you are typically recruited to tryout. Walk-on tryouts are the school year before, in January at FSU (some schools early spring), and you tryout while still in High School. Not to mention, it is nearly impossible to pledge a frat as a D1 football player, and you cant do it in the same season/year. Mike Norvell would never allow it. D1 athletes have no problem getting naked in front of each other and their roommates as well. And the frat dynamics and depictions of hazing are dated.

This comment doesn't feel like being from an "armchair critic". It's constructive criticism for the author to develop his writing skills. It makes some valid points that should be welcomed.

That said, I enjoy the story too... Keep it going
