Unsimulated sex scenes in a movie

well, that pretty much applies to almost everything posted in here lol
I would suggest the 'mainstream' refers to the way they were released historically...i.e. films being released outside of porn theatres or other underground means that had unsimulated sex in the 70s.

More recently (well within last 25yrs) Lars Von Trier's the Idiots in '98 was identified as kickstarting a bit of a renaissance of indie films with real sex in them that were released in cinemas. Then Intimacy (oscar winner, Mark Rylance), Brown Bunny (oscar nomimated Chloe Sevigny, Vincent Gallo) and 9 songs (directed by Michael Winterbottom) etc all had a traditional, mainstream release in cinemas as well as many others including films by Gaspar Noe for example.

Less relevant descriptor now due to the way things are released etc and now I understand mainstream in this context to mean real sex in non-porn films....but that's my take anyway.
