The OP has some good insights, but I think there are other factors. I’m just 4.5” hard on a good day, and around 2” soft. But in briefs or boxer briefs or some sweatpants I sport a nice protruding bulge. Mostly this has to do with my cock resting on my ball sack and getting pushed outwards.
