I did not really get into the gym until my late twenties and was really very skinny with little muscle mass my whole life. I finally found a workout program that I liked and started to put on muscle. I began to notice that as my muscles got bigger, a gym session made a bigger difference on my erections and my sex drive.

I experience the same thing. I've recently started hitting the gym in my early 30s and apart from changes in my muscles the other major change I've felt has been increased sex drive.

I've had other periods in life where I've been quite fit, but from cardio, and I never experienced the same thing. My theory is that muscle training prompts the body to produce more testosterone. On top of that, when you're training muscles you're generally also eating well too (keeping hydrated, plenty of protein).

Same here. Most guys will get the pump due to the blood flowing and rise in testosterone. I am in my early 60’s and still get rock hard. It seems like everybody hates leg day. You are exercising the largest area of your body covered with skin. Reason you get more sweaty working your legs. I take the approach that leg day gives me more stamina and strength in bed. I noticed this some time ago as I started gaining size. If this would become more common knowledge, all guys would be working their legs all the time.
 
Weight training increases testosterone levels. So much so that a number of times I've gotten erections while on the leg press machine. It's even gotten my partner's attention.
