It's m6 on one end, and m4 at the tip. I stripped the m4 end trying to remove the screw from it's base.
Does anyone know what this type of screw is called and/or where I can get one?
Or maybe someone knows of a hardware forum where I can post this.

Interesting. What did it come out of? It looks like a stud but I just did a quick search and couldn't find one with M4 thread on one end and M6 on the other. It might be a special item made specifically for whatever it came out of. You could always check with a local machine shop. They could probably make one for you.

It's a home made solution to a problem...........not a very good one.

Re-thread the hole to suit.Did you strip the thread in the housing? If it's a bike it is probably into an aluminium casting? So it shouldn't be too bad.

You said it was M6 thread...redo to M8 if possible.

You didn't say where the screw was removed from. Is it the topside of the bike or the lower end where vibration and stress is?
