I think I first beheld online porn in 2005 and found myself clicking through a few site previews - looking back at the quality of the content back then it seems crazy what sites were charging $30/month for. Just making money off guys with compulsive buying habits and bottomless wallets I guess.
That early on, online porn was still, relatively, in it’s infancy. Tube sites didn’t exist or were very new, and the porn producers knew they had a captive market.

Oh, agreed - but it still seemed pretty rough compared to other digital media, like say a DVD.

I was still able to find a lot of free stuff back then, but I guess I was happy just to look at pictures. It's video or nothing for me these days. Also I was young enough that even the free stuff I could find had an insane novelty value.

But on balance, I still think it would have been questionable to have multiple site-subscriptions on the go at once back then, unless you had money to burn.

One's opposition to paying for porn sorta sounds like the guy who says he'd never pay for sex and then settles for fucking his whale of wife once every 6 months. Bro, just buy a 10 and stop huddling over your desk beating off to 10 second clips. The deeper question is this - why is your pride involved in whether or not you pay for porn?

And, the REAL question is... do you get off more from porn or sexting dudes on Grindr? That's how most people get off these days: beating off on Grindr and then flaking on the dude who got them off.

People don't pay for porn because they prefer faux interaction through hookups apps. Porn feels fake whereas chatting with a dude from Grindr feels like you could thrown some clothes on and meet the dude in an instant... although you rarely do.

Some people have different priorities I guess, especially with regards to time and convenience. People pay for "free" services like Youtube Premium and Reddit Gold mainly just not to see ads. I guess it's the same thing for porn: so as not to see ads and have access to premium content?

This just blows my mind though:
In August 2020, Bella Thorne joined OnlyFans and became the first person to earn $1 million in the first 24 hours of joining the platform. She earned $2 million in less than a week. Her activities on OnlyFans sparked controversy after she offered $200 pay-per-view photos she claimed were "naked", but the photos were actually her wearing lingerie.
People would actually pay $200 for a photo of a minor celeb?
That's crazy!

I will never understand people paying for single nude shots. Especially $200! Wow.

Personally it’s a bit of a joke. If you consume a product and pay nothing towards the industry, it’s never going to be as good as it can be.

I am not a hypocrite, of course I have consumed free porn as I’m sure everyone has, but I have paid my fair share for performers who have premium content, or for higher production value.

I have paid less than $100 in all of the years I've been watching porn and definitely feel some guilt for it. The one video I bought was for something that was not even too wild but just something I couldn't find on any streaming sites, it was a cuckold kind of video but without the humiliation that seems present in almost all of the other cuckold stuff. When I am in a better financial situation I would definitely throw some money at preferred performers but I'd be in the dog house if I did that now!

I'm very curious about this... Who pays for (premium) porn? I mean, most of us are subscribed to one or more VOD services like Netflix or Amazon Prime... But what about paying for porn? Pornhub Premium seems to be interesting, but also big sites like Brazzers and Reality Kings... They exist and keep creating content, so I guess that they have paying customers.

I bumped on a site where they give coupons/discounts on such subscriptions, and I'm curious if its worth the money...

Thanks!
I have no clue, but I'm glad they are out there. Even though everything I release is free I still broke into the top half of OF because I suppose some fans want to help support me. I appreciate it.

I've just received an email for 15% off any purchase from a dvd porn website, they also sell toys, condoms, lubes and magazines. Just had a look at the magazines, they're selling, about 30 different magazines, all at least £20 each. Some dvd's from £5. I think 20 years ago, before the likes of xhamster, xvideos and the like I would have been happy to have bought some movies on dvd, sadly now there are very few movies that tickle my fancy & I end up having to tickle it myself.

As I've got older I'm happier to subscribe to sites like onlyfans as it is more genuine & you can interacts with the model. Yesterday I was on xhamster on the live sex page watching a webcam of a really cute twink. It was far more enjoyable than some of the sites watching studio made porn.

Not sure I would ever buy a porn dvd, especially from a sex shop, dvd website as the amount they tend to charge now you can sub to various different sites for a lot less. What could possibly work is a site where people can sell their porn dvd movies, kind of like an adult ebay or pornbay so to speak.

Iam not the biggest fan of subscription-services. I cancelled Netflix because i didn´t like their content. Iam into buying single movies / clips / episodes. Yes, its more expensive, but i can choose, what i want to see and dont have to take a full plate if i only wanted a spoon.

For my taste in porn, i always find single-movies that do it for me and i am a guy who watches a good porn several times. If the women / men in them are doing a good job, why not buying the movie or several ones with these actors?

I agree. Like yourself I'm not a fan of subscription sites, as you mention with netflix, they may have a couple of movies you like, but if you subscribe for 6 months then netflix remove the 2 said movies, wouldn't it have been cheaper to buy the 2 movies to download or even on dvd? I know people will say you had all the other content, but if you're not enjoying it you're not going to watch it.
I have a few favourite male actors, I've bookmarked several of their movies/scenes and really enjoy watching them over, even after several years.

I pay for OnlyFans content, mostly because I enjoy the eroticism of having personalized content and messaging with users. There's something intimate about amateur porn and people filming content inside their own house and giving a small glimpse into their lives. Plus some of my personal friends are on there and enjoy having other friends support them, so I enjoy supporting them in return.

Who pays to see OF content….

The principle will be the same, teaser followed by a quick and easy price…. Tap and away you go…

There is that much porn out there amateur and professional, why would anyone need to access OF content…

People are all different. The professional and amateur material that is accessible may not appeal to everyone. As has been pointed out the more amateur onlyfans models need to earn a living doing what they do and they will provide personalised content to their subscribers, doing specific acts the subscriber finds a turn on.

Fair enough a lot of men will find mainstream porn, professional and amateur a turn on and are happy to get off to all the stuff that is accessible for free, people will all have different tastes.
