They wear a special pair of compression shorts to hold the pads in place that cover the hip and front thighs... and then the Uniform itself to hold them into place. I know this cause my friend showed me their uniforms once... Jockstraps and Cups aren't in football much anymore.

Agree....in the photo he's just wearing a jock. What looks like a pair of briefs is a double or triple thickness of the fabric the pants are made off...usually there for padding and support. I find it interesting though that they use fabric that becomes transparent when wet (sweat or rain). Certainly not complaining about that but there are fabrics designed to maintain their opaqueness when damp. They are used in uniforms for track and field and swimming among other things. Can you imagine watching those events in the Olympics if the swimmers Speedos were see=through? Mmmmmm.
