Alan Ritchson * Actor/model

Omg...
So in a nutshell sometime last year he made a story about supporting sex workers and feeling bad for what some females go through with unwanted advances. However in that same post and he left it up for” interpretation” but he alluded to possibly doing some things when he was broke when he was younger. He clearly stated he was able to fend off unwanted advances and situations he didn’t want to be in, but the entire story( which I’m shocked no one recorded) gave many the impression he did things he wasn’t proud of back in the day. Either casting couch or fucked some dudes for money when he was broke. He never came out and said it but it’s implied.

Again, he was referring to his modeling days. Specially about those times he modeled “male lingerie”. His words not mine. I’d say it was underwear but he said it was lingerie.
Those pics are perfectly okay and there's nothing in the world to be ashamed of. MASSIVE names model underwear for CK and other brands all the time. Dunno what he's ashamed of. We all fucking wear them!

I know and that’s the point. He said he’s not ashamed per se, because he was earning money and providing, though not in the way he would’ve liked.
Plus, the advances made by photographers and casting directors, that’s what he was referring to, that being a man his size he was probably good at stoping people trying to make a move just because he was seen as a piece of meat.

That’s basically it. People are looking much into it interpreting he was some sort of escort or male gigolo.

I have always said this and will always say this, objectification works a bit differently for men then women. Men who are in shape WANT TO show off their bodies. They are not being forced to. They want to do it.

I can understand SOME MEN feeling that way. But I feel for most men if they are in shape, if you ask them take your shirt off, most happily will.

I doubt all men feel that way.

Speaking for myself, when I am in shape (and I am not always), but when I am, I am wearing singlets and tight t shirts and open shirts (when it is appropriate like on beaches etc.). Many of my male friends are that way as well.

If I feel I am looking good, i would have zero zero zero problem taking my shirt off.

Agreed. That's way too simplistic and a huge generalisation. Men and women can both be objectified and both genders can find that off putting. It depends on the person.

Doesn’t mean they want to be objectified or should have to deal with unwanted advances. There’s a difference in being proud of your body and showing off and being made to feel like a commodity.

I agree and certainly understand that people would not want that. However, he is in an industry built on commodifying human bodies in photos and film. Some of this is just the nature of the industry and advancement when there is too much supply, set demand, high rewards, and sacred gatekeepers who determine who gets rewards and who does not.

I can understand why he feels that people objectify him and must be tiring but he is a bit responsible for that. His career as an actor is based on his looks. This is what he sells. It is really common and there are so many who do the same(most of these Marvel actors fore example) so he shouldn't feel like that.Or he can try to become an even better actor(he has made many steps though)

Usually when guys take up intense bodybuilding to pack on muscle the associated facial puffiness ruins their looks, but somehow in Alan's case it's had the opposite effect and made him more handsome. Dude won the genetic lottery.
He’s amazing though I feel he is now a little too bulky for my personal taste.

The Alan from BMS or even Blood Drive, UNF, yes please !!

I don't think he is disparaging the early work he's done or being admired because of his look, I think he was referring to the inappropriate and unwanted advances from people during his modeling days. He clearly has no problem showing off. He was in a jockstrap on the first episode of Blue Mountain State, not to mention all the ass on Titans and Reacher. So much ass. :eyes: :yum
