I’ve known him for years and he’s a good guy. He’s pretty laid back, loves to sing karaoke, and worked as a waiter before LA. He had an older brother Kevin who was killed by a drunk driver years ago. Incredibly the family forgave the driver and helped her get her life sorted after she served her sentence. They also keep contact with those who received organ donations from Kevin’s passing. Derek’s mom wrote a book about it and runs a nonprofit which Derek helps with. Not a fun story but an important part of Derek’s life.

Lol no we have been actual friends for years, long before he moved to LA. We don’t hangout now given he lives on the other side of the country from me but still talk regularly. When he’s back in TN we have spent many an hour in his parent’s backyard swing drinking tea and catching up. I’m not always sure what people want to know exactly about him. He’s pretty approachable I think, but isn’t going to give much attention if it’s all thirst comments.

I never knew Kevin, he’d passed two years earlier than I met Derek and was just this absent prescience lthey were close in age by a couple years. Kevin was taller and just looked more mature to me in his pics, so I always think of him as such.
Maybe you really know him, but again, you've said nothing that Derek hasn't already made public on his Instagram. Anyone who has been following him for a while could have said exactly the same thing.
