So I returned to the gym for the first time since Covid and this was my experience at LA Fitness in the DFW area. As I walked into the gym the place was packed with men on various machines, playing volleyball and basketball. I walked into the locker room and the place was basically empty. I stripped down to put on my bathing suit to swim some laps. I walked to the shower to rinse off and there was one guy in the individual shower stalls with the curtains completely closed. After my swim, I returned to the showers and took my suit off then stepped into a stall without closing my curtain. One guy was across from me with his curtain completely closed. Eventually, I closed my curtain as well and finished showering. Once I finished, I opened my curtain and reached for my towel. The guy across from me was just finishing and also had his curtain open. As we both dried off I made no attempt to keep myself covered. He, on the other hand, made sure to keep his penis hidden as he finished toweling off. Then, while still inside his stall, he wrapped the towel around his waist and reached for a pair of underwear and did the towel dance making sure he was not exposed while inside a shower stall in a men's locker room! What is wrong with people?? I promise I was not obviously staring with fixated eyes. With so many men in the gym and only seeing one partially naked man I don't think most guys use the locker room at gyms to shower anymore. It's certainly not the parade of nude guys you once used to see in the 70s inside the showers at the local swimming pool or gym or camping facility.
Absolutely accurate, in my experience, even before covid, and I haven't been back in a locker room since but I certainly do not think guys are more comfortable in locker rooms now than they were 20-40 years ago. The opposite, in fact.So I returned to the gym for the first time since Covid and this was my experience at LA Fitness in the DFW area. And yet, sadly, not a jockstrap in sight, I'll wager. I live in a college town and the cross country runners are out: defined abs on slim dudes. I don't actually prefer that type, but I do admire it.[I just thought I'd repost this slightly modified little psa from "For the Love of College Boys" to give people some context for my new posts. Thank you]
Holy hormones Batman!
My college gym locker room opened last week and… the boys are back!
Welcome home, my shy, handsome colts! My bashful, horny, naughty beautiful boys!
Adam’s apples, pimples, backpacks, sweaty armpits, body odor, new friends, new life, hanging out, freedom from mom and dad, young adult bodies, flexing in the gym, plaid shirts, khakis, sweat, tests, essays, stress
The joy of the locker room, slender hips, exposed chests and abs, casually dropped towels, name-calling, loving horseplay, hard, hairy or smooth butts…
And hold it! What’s that sound?!
It’s the College Boy Ding-A-Ling Train…and it’s coming our way!
(ding-a-ling-a-ding-a-dong)
The biggest erector set in tarnation!
There’s nothing LITTLE about this engine, no way Jose!
AWOOGA!!!
This is the saddest story since "Old Yeller." What happened, man? When did the idea of showering with shorts on, or doing the towel dance become a thing? What are you and your generation so scared of? Mockery? Appearing less "manly" cuz your dick's not as big as another guy's? If this is widespread in your generation, I feel sorry for you and your peers. Being naked around other men has been the norm since the cavemen days. it's actually good for male sexual psyche.I am a 20 year old male and I thought people would like to hear about being nude in locker rooms from a younger person. Personally I normally cover up and change my underwear in a towel and I think most people my age would agree. I’ve been through high school pe lessons and we never got fully nude or showered at all and if people would shower they would wear underwear or swimming shorts due to there being stereotypes of being ‘gay’ if you are naked or see another persons dick (which I totally disagree on). I think this has a big impact because I go swimming regularly and have to change in the locker rooms with other men and I find that older men walk around nude and shower nude as I’ve heard that when they were younger it was normal to shower nude infrint of your class mates, but younger people my age tend not to do this. I’ve been swimming regularly for a couple months now and when I first started I would completely cover up and make sure no one else would see my dick but now I’ve been going for a while and I’ve been not as secretive and have been showing off my dick and ass more because I feel more comfortable. I still would cover up if anyone around me is my age as it’s a bit awkward to see each other naked but if there’s older people that are also naked I am usually naked as well. I hope this helped people understand a younger person’s experience of being nude in high school and in the locker rooms. And I hope this made sense as well.
I know you didn't start the trend and appreciate you sharing the reality of most of your generation.I am a 20 year old male and I thought people would like to hear about being nude in locker rooms from a younger person. And this is how it used to be in America. Something really fucked up entered the American male psyche in the past few decades. Even the phrase "shower naked" reveals how screwed up it is. Isn't "shower" by definition "Naked"? I guess Russia has us beat on this one.Funny to read all the posts about you guys (guess mostly American) being frustrated with lack of nudity in locker rooms, because it's very different in Russia. I had a fetish of seeing guys naked in lockers too, but only when I was younger and didn't go to gym myself. Since I started to do it has become quite casual to me, because:
- About 95% of the guys strip naked in locker rooms here. No one ever does a towel dance. Well maybe I've seen it couple of times in my life - it's very rare.
- Most of the guys take shower after the gym and they do it naked. Also never seen curtains in a gym shower - it's always just stalls.
- Most of the gyms have a small sauna here. I would say about 80% sit there naked (on top of their towel). And 20% cover themselves with a towel, even though they shower naked anyway, lol. Don't know why, but still, they are minority.
