an example? In what sense do you mean? As far as I know, there are a decent number of heterosexual actors in Brazil who do gay roles. Is there some stigma attached to doing gay roles harming your career still in modern Brazilian cinema?

I meant specifically young straight hunky actors like him, not in general. His counterparts, from the now-defunct teen soap Malhação which made him well known, tend to either follow a standard career playing straight roles or fade away into obscurity. His chosen path has been surprising, to say the least.

While there's been improvement, there's still a stigma attached to these roles, but the main issue is that there just aren't that many gay/bi leading characters in Brazilian movies and TV shows, let alone soap operas. The fact that Bruno joined a high-profile biopic playing a gay romantic lead is still a bold move.

Let's just say it's not a coincidence that both Johnny Massaro (from Verdades Secretas 2) and Jesuíta Barbosa (from the upcoming Homem com H) are gay/bi actors. It still tends to be the case for such roles.
