Cardi B's Wap And Women Bragging About Their Sexual Ability

What is CardiB's job? Selling records.

CardiB and others in the music industry are in it for fame. Notoriety. But ultimately it is all about the money.

Controversy garners attention. Attention garners interest in her songs/videos.

People buy her music. She makes money.

Lather. Rinse. Repeat.

I just listened to my first Cardi B song, WAP.

It is an OK song, but it is just Cardi B and some other woman talking about how good they are at sex. The title WAP is an acronym for "wet ass pussy", so I knew what I was getting into when I clicked on the video. I'm not shocked by the content of the song, but my reaction to it.

The song has many things that I like, a lot of sex talk and a few instances where the women say they only want men with big dicks, however I found myself rolling my eyes instead of being turned on. After the song ended I couldn't help thinking that the women in the song were probably average in bed at best. It was like a guy who won't shut up about his big dick. You know that behind all that boasting, is just an average sized guy or maybe even a guy with a small dick. Hung studs don't need to declare to the world that they're hung. They let their bulges do the talking. I think it is the same with women who have WAPs, they don't need to boast.

Am I off base? Is this just sour grapes? What do you think of women who boast about their sexual ability?

I would not say you're off base at all. Your opinion is reasonable, certainly possible. I interpret the song as a response to the way women are often treated in male singers explicit lyrics.

hmm, I'm not sure if the song works as a response to male rappers. I didn't see much of a difference between what they were talking about and what the men are always yapping about.

I love the song..i am here for the raunch and boasting because that is a big and necessary part of hip hop.
I also love it because i think the song serves as a litmus test for men's self esteem and feelings on women.
Just about any hip hop head born from 85 on can complete the phrase memorialized by Juicy J, "Slob on my knob...." So i fail to see anything necessary besides parental discretion for WAP.

Have you heard Ben Shapiro's take on the song? It is the whitest thing ever.

Should it be? The video and song came off as very male gaze-ey to me.

I' m guessing the artist was making the point that women can have a similar attitude as "make players" when it comes to their sexual desires. What that should be is up to the artist to a degree and how people interpret the art based on their lives.

This is how I feel. How many of the men complaining about this song can recite the lyrics to Slob On My Knob?

They are just intimidated about women expressing their sexuality on their own terms. Period. They're weak and fragile

My conservative crush, Lauren Chen has released her opinion on the whole WAP controversy. It is stupid but damn! Stupid has never looked so good...

I just want to say that, even though I disagree with what she said, her line about Cardi B and the other woman having "saggy droopy, hot-dog in a hall way chlamydia dripping" vaginas, was pretty good.

I'm sure both Cardi B and the other woman have a very good, not droopy or STD dripping, vaginas. Lauren Chen is just hating.

You're ignoring the fact that these aren't two women sitting around at the club talking about their pussies. These are two female rappers making millions because SEX SELLS. Now I've seen Cardi put out social media messages about her body parts but that's also part of her professional persona. I have no idea whether either of them brag on their pussy in regular day to day life.

The song itself doesn't bother me. We've had Foxy Brown, Lil Kim, Missy Elliot etc. doing this in the 90's, so nothing new. I personally despise 2020 internet trends like this, but at the same time I wasn't offended/appalled/outraged like everyone else. I was like "Yawn, another Cardi song, next" LOL
