The thing is, I also find the bachelors/bachelorettes annoying. It's not even about sex, any one-trick pony exploiting their identity for fame is annoying, for example someone who makes winning the lottery their whole personality.
Being gay is something that just happened to us. It's fine and great being proud of it, but if that's the only thing you're known for, it just doesn't make for a very inspiring example. Perhaps you are more accepting of the influencer types of personalities, which is fine, I don't expect everyone to agree with me. But your presumption that our dislike of some celebrity gays (not even all of them) must be due to homophobia seems pretty tenuous. In fact I find Lil Nas X who is unapologetically sexual (arguably the most in your face gay right now) awe-inspiring and a great role model.
And, we can praise Carl's journey without necessarily denying others' truth. My admiration for his choices doesn't take away from your admiration of someone like Gus or Colton Underwood. Interpreting any positive sentiment as an underhand attack on others seems like an unhealthy way to look at things.
Yeah, Lil Nas X is actually an example of an in your face gay that I'm actually totally down with because music videos have been unapologetically hetero for eons and people trying to cry about him doing it not are just showing either how homophobic they are or how desensitized to how much heterosexuality permeates everyday life.
Oh and Nas is actually contributing more than just saying "I'm gay pay attention to me" like, say, that Colton bachelor guy.
