This is also most jobs. Is everyone who starts a business going to be successful? Or who studies finance—let alone English or politics. He’s in that rarified group and doing fairly well right now. If he invests his money wisely and has an exit strategy for when he [physically] outgrows his audience, for him yeah this job will have been a worthwhile endeavor.
I think you have him confused with those few IG influencers who made it big on OF and make five, six figures a month from that. That’s basically a porn career and yeah, it is a legitimate business with a short window. Just like a career in sports or athletics.

You obviously have done little to no research on the person about whom you're speaking. He's actually a successful model who has done ads for some pretty big names including Pepsi and Jett blue, Samsung, Hot Topic, Men's Warehouse, several clothing companies and numerous magazines. He has large displays in NY city so I'm not sure what your basis for thinking he's not successful is.
