Colton underwood- american football player

How is this "gross"? It's just capitalism in action. If everyone else is going to get a cut from the production, why shouldn't Colton too?

otoh, I can understand how someone can wonder if Colton being paid for this biopic and "true life story" could be embellishing things, even making things up or playing it up for the camera, just to make the story more compelling. Reality TV isn't all that reality.

Exactly, Colton should get all the criticism in the world for his harassing and abusing of Cassie. But lots of these other criticisms are just stupid and blinded by hatred.

The show was cringe, but it was mostly due to production decisions, something Colton probably had no, or next to no, control over.

I wish he'd promoted something like The Trevor Project or met with people from similar charities or organisations that help LGBTQ people/kids in need in the show to use his platform in that way, but otherwise I don't fault him. He should have discussed his harassment of Cassie more, even without her presence, and made a more direct apology.

I agree w/ more content like Trevor Project, though I'm not sure if he should talk more about the harassment because it would bring more publicity to Cassie, and she has mentioned multiple times that is the last thing she wants or needs. Talking details about the harassment is what the public wants, not what the victim wants. And Colton has confirmed that he's harassing Cassie. I'd say it's quite clear that the allegation is true (at least for the most part).

Colton confirmed the blackmailer have list of men (he hooked up w/) but he won't mentioned about the blackmail in the netflix show bc it will give the blackmailer some power.
That one leaves a foul odor. I mean it's understandable Colton wanting to present himself in the most favorable light, but Netflix creates a series documenting a public person's coming out story, yet felt no obligation to disclose the true circumstances as to why he was coming out.

It's almost as if the upper management at Netflix began to sweat losing ten percent of their subscriber revenue, thinking we'd be pissed after Dave Chappelle and The Crown being preempted a year, so they threw us a bone and gave us Colton. : unamused:

I still wonder how long Colton's shelf life will be. This Netflix documentary will fade into the background after a while and then what does he do? Hopefully he uses whatever celebrity he still has to help younger guys struggling with their sexuality. But most realty stars making a splash only last long enough until the next new star comes along to grab our attention.

What does he actually do for a living? I don’t follow this thread regularly so I’m not up-to-date with all the goings-on. Does he have a job or a career post football?

Monetizing his name is a living.

He has nearly 2M Instagram followers and over 350k Twitter followers. I don't know what that equates to dollar wise on a per month basis, but I'm sure it's enough to keep him going while waiting for other paid offers. And when the spotlight is over, he could probably hit the B-list paid lecture circut in the guise of "motivational speaker" to keep him afloat for years.

He's selling his $1.35 million house he bought a year ago, so... who knows what that means re cash flow. Either he's upgrading or downsizing. Maybe moving in with his controversial bf. Maybe the mortgage payments were too high. His job is to be an influencer and reality show star. I've never heard of any sort of career of his apart from that and his brief stint in the NFL.

The bedroom closet (no pun intended) photo at that TMZ link (photo #17) is... funny. No man with that many shoes is straight**, and any woman thinking he was needs a gaydar tune-up.

**Unless said man is a vain Wall Street douche or something.

I'm thinking the house was purchased indirectly through advances from Netflix as part of his compensation and for the purposes of filming the series. Now that's ended, he's cashing in and flipping it at a 51% increase over the purchase price a year ago.

The house is a builder spec home on a small lot with a finished basement and insane finish upgrades, but it will sell.

Looks like he accepted an offer 5 days after it went on the market in November.

I agree. The series has a reality show presentation, and at some stage, you can’t help but wonder in the hypocrisy of the premise, for nothing’s really changed, the myopic focus is still on Colton, and on some level, he’s apologizing to the wrong people.

I mean where’s the Netflix coming out series for the closeted young men coming up in incredibly homophobic school systems who didn’t qualify as the high school jock and sucked at sports?

Those who were demoralized for their sexuality before they themselves had any understand as to who they were and assigned names before they knew the meaning. Who were ridiculed by the coaches in PE and further ridiculed by guidance counselors if they dared reported they were being bullied.

Whose high school social existence consisted of a handful of female friends and possibly a sympathetic teacher, and never looked back when they finally finished, for they knew life would never be that bad again.

I would wish Colton luck, but privilege is begetting privilege here and he has his own series operating as celebrity matchmaking, so he really doesn’t need luck, does he?
So WHAT if he doesn’t have the saddest, most miserable coming out/LGBT experience? Do we ALWAYS need to focus on the saddest stories?

Listen, you're right. More attention does need to be paid those who went through this. At the same time it's not fair to bash Colton for his show or how he came out. The high school experience you've described sounds like hell, but isn't it also possible that he went through his own personal hell during those times? I feel like you're angry at him for something that is out of his control. You're anger (assuming you are) is valid but direct or at the right people, those who bullied and tormented the people you've described, because it was probably those same people that forced him to stay in the closet silently hating himself.

I agree, there were tons of clues! But, many straight guys are shoe crazy these days, especially if you are into the designer athletic/basketball shoes or in urban markets. Designer basketball shoes can be as competitive to obtain as some female shoes.

You're right. Sneakerheads I think they're called. Lol. Yep that is a genuinely lucrative industry on par with female footwear. There are even conventions and everything. Lol

I suppose you're right. I've only ever had like two pairs of shoes at a time and have zero interest them as a fashion statement, so I can't relate.

That's exactly what they are called.
No man with that many shoes is straight
That's not true. There is a HUGE market for sneakers. My best friends husband probably has just as many of not many than were in that picture and he's not particularly vain, gay, nor does he work on Wallstreet.
