I'm currently rewatching Buffy, and simultaneously watching Angel for the first time and I can't get over how hot he was back then. I know I might sound like an asshole because you can't choose not to age, but him nowadays does absolutely nothing for me but when I turn on Buffy/Angel suddenly he has a chokehold on me.
If his nudes were from back in the 2000s, I think I would be the happiest man on earth lmao

Same here, every time I re-watch Buffy/Angel or I see early seasons of Bones on TV I am shocked how handsome he used to be. I don't know why he didn't age well, he is not that old. Maybe it's botox...
Btw Angel is my favorite show ever, if you survive S1 which had few highlights and the rest was filler you are in for a crazy ride. Angel is so much deeper, darker and better show than Buffy, characters, development of Angel himself who was very boring on Buffy but had such a lovely personality on Angel and don't let me start on Cordelia who is the best character on whole Buffyverse... I could talk about that show forever. Its creativity always impresses me when I watch it, so many ideas... And yet show was canceled at the peak of its acclaim and ratings...
DB circa Angel season 2 was the height of his sexiness for me until I saw Bones seasons 1 & 2. I love that his nude scene in These Girls was right in that general time- sometime around 2005.

I re watch buffy and angel all the time I'm a superfan of buffy/angel. Amazing iconic trendsetting, influential shows far ahead of their time and constantly referenced and immitated by shows in all genres and cw has tried to replicate it ever since it ended
But in what world has David aged well?? WTAF? He's 53 and looks better than most 35 year olds.
He barely aged from the second season of angel to the end of bones.
People uses to joke that he was a vampire.
To expect a 53 year old to look 27 is delusional. He's 53 for 53 his body, his skin, his hair is amazing. He has aged incredibly well.
Outside of Paul Rudd and whatever deal he's done with the devil 53 year olds don't look like David.
Besides he's a straight man, straight men don't have the weird obsession with youth that gay men do, it's concerning that people have such unrealistic expectations of aging. He's 53

I just started Season 3 and so far I quite like it, but I still like Buffy more. I agree that as a character Angel is better in his own show but he still manages to annoy sometimes with some of his decisions lol Plus people already have warned me that season 4 is pretty controversial so I'm tempering my expectations.
Realistically, I agree. He's not ugly now by any means. I guess it's just a subjective issue with me especifically, since there are other men around his age that I find attractive and not necessarily because they look younger.

Season 4 is it's most experimental I actually really really really liked it but some shit they do with one of my favorite characters is just heartbreaking but still I kinda love it now because it was so unexpected knowing nothing going in. I think it has the best villains of Angels run.
Season 3 and season 4 are the most buffy ish in terms of season structure with big bads etc and ooof they gave lots of crossovers that season and one multi episode arc which is beautiful and makes me wish they had of given a certain character a spin off.
season 4 like season six of buffy is messy but I like messy and I love the sense of doom and dread in it great arcs, great standalone episodes and fucking bad ass villains.
im rambling there are no bad seasons of either show imo. Season 2 of angel and season 5 of buffy are my favorites imo. Love them all though

S3 is when show gets darker and it just kept going until the end lol it also became very serialized which turned off casual Buffy fans...
Overall Angel is better show, but Buffy is more iconic so that alone impacts people's opinion.
S4 is VERY VERY VERY controversial, especially now knowing what was going on behind the scenes...
I didn't think Angel S4 was the worst thing in the world- probably the best episode was Spin The Bottle.

by fucking Charisma over because of her pregnancy, Whedon fucked himself and the show over as well. Everyone hates the Cordelia/Connor pairing and the storyline that it led to. Cordelia was a fan favorite character and getting rid of her was a mistake. Now that the truth over Whedon's behavior has been exposed, I hope he never has any power over anyone in the industry.

I agree I loved Cordelia and I hated Connor and that pairing but I low key like that season a lot (I was furious about losing Cordelia) but I love jasmine that devil demon and the faith/Angelus/angel episode and having Angelus running with the sun blacked out around was epic.
My biggest hate actually was when they killed Fred... Illyria looked cool and the story was cool but Fred!
I always wanted Glory to appear on the show somehow maybe via Wolfram and heart or a backstory. I freaking loved Glory.
Also what ever became of electro girl?
