I don't think so.
He just wasn't motivated.
Either he didn't prepare well enough before rejoining Columbia or his first year grades weren't good enough to get into the courses he wanted. He didn't get into the poetry course he wanted and we haven't heard anything about creative writing courses. So he ended up taking a few philosophy courses and thinking of changing his major from English to philosophy which doesn't make his degree very useful. I guess he didn't think spending all that money getting a philosophy degree is worth it.
Lack of motivation may have impacted his wrestling too.
He has other issues though and I'm curious to see if he mentions them.

During August he racked up a couple of traffic violations, both of which required court appearances back home in Buffalo Grove - Lake County.
He missed his first arraignment on the 20 September and I believe a bench warrant was probably issued. I expect he went back to remove the warrant. He has another arraignment this week and a now also a court date in November.
Being under 21 at the time of the two offenses, it could also lead to suspension of his license for 3 months.
