In the US this is basically accurate. But I was referring to the previous years when the scandals happened. Right now, I don't think it is near as big of an issue, at least int US.

As far as not existing, it is true that it is no where near as prevalent because of PreP and anti-virals to combat it, but there are still niche corners that look for that sort of danger, unfortunately.

Even with PreEP and antiretrovirals, HIV is a serious matter. My cousin died last year of HIV complications. In Florida under expert dedicated care. With access to retrovirals. Problems people don't see coming: He had non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. On top of the disease compromising his immune system, the chemotherapy, R-CHOP, pours gas into the fire. It's not just having access to medications that lower viral loads.

Had plenty of patients as well in our hem/onc practice who were not done in by the HIV, but were on dialysis due to Biktarvy completely fucking up their renal function with long term use. With our urology colleagues, educated men coming in, not undeserved minorities. I mean actual professionals with access to resources. Still admitting they had several episodes of chlamydia/gono/HIV and still having multiple sexual partners without consistent protection. No consequences to them despite the knowing damage they did to other men, abetted by our community activists.

Our community needs to work hard to let our young gay men not get complacent and to be skeptical of the miracle pills pharma happily advertises to them. Trust no one, ask for testing, and understand that the best approach today is still safe sex practices.

When studios like TIM undermine these messages, they cause serious harm to the people they pretend to care for. Money and pleasure do not override the value of other people's healthy lifespans.
