Flowers you like

I have a lilac tree in my yard outside my kitchen window. I keep the windows open when they're in bloom, and the fragrance fills the house. I also have a mock orange tree, which does the same thing, a few weeks apart.
I grew up on the east coast, but now live in Northern California. I miss the big lilac bushes of the east coast. We can only get lilacs at the florist 2 weeks a year.

(pictures don't do them justice they are much brighter pink/purple but hard as fuck to keep alive)

And lastly its not really a flower per se its more of a tree but I love Japanese Maples:

The Tropicana 'canna' lilies are my favorite.
I kind of wish I lived further south so I could grow my tropical flowers.

Oh, I just... I found a new type of orchid that I never heard of. The "Laelia" orchid.

That's just so very special to me.

They are in the cattleya family and are really quite special. I used to have one that was white with yellow throat.
Thank You for posting

Such a plethora of beautiful flowers out there. I never tire of their colors, forms, fragrances and foliage.

While I love flowers ranging from spectacular orchids in a hothouse to blossoms on a common magnolia, the one thing I don't like is looking for photos online. The spread of exaggerated HDR images that pumps up the colors of flowers also strips them of their nuances and real beauty.

They are in the Parentage of a lot of the modern orchid hybrids. They are crossed with " cattleya" ," Brassavola" and " Sophronitis " to make up all of the many intergenic hybrids. These crosses give us all of the sizes, shapes and lovely colors we have today. Your special one is very nice looking. Any time you see the letter L in a description of an orchid ie SLC there is your " Laelia" as a parent.

One of the Laelias I got actually had a few buds in it when it arrived. One already opened. IMG_20200115_062338879~3.jpg

The flower bloomed upside down, but it's ok. It's about the size of the tip of my thumb, such a cute little girl!

It reminds me of a honeysuckle.

For me it's the smells or the taste that matters most:

I'm all nasal and oral I guess ;-)
