There are too many characters. Even Billy seemed wasted. it should have just been the 2 girls and the witches. They could have done more with Sam and make him interested in the dark side and then the witches turn on him. He could have been a villain. Or this could have been a mini series

i haven't watched it yet. so it was just as expected? he plays a background character with barely any presence whatsoever in the whole movie?

I haven't seen it, but why are people surprised he's not an important character? All the descriptions of the plot we've read have only ever mentioned three girls as the main characters, and the witches.
